Whilst
print history cuts through much of my historical work, I also work on explicitly
bibliographic research. Fundamentally my interest is in queer bibliography,
with three broad areas of attention. Firstly, I am interested in assembling queer
methods, that is to say those methods which are aligned with queer theory, but
also those which are particularly attentive to queer experiences and readers. Secondly,
I am interested in what I have termed affective bibliography, around questions
of touch and the emotional aspects of bibliographic work. Finally, as a
development of this, I am interested in thinking more broadly about
bibliography, with non-book objects and social media to help us interpret the material
form of texts and books.
I have a chapter in press on affective bibliography, and have a number of other pieces under preparation. In particular, I am working with Sarah Pyke on a number of publications coming from a symposium we organized in February 2023.
